SCOOBA—The Lady Tigers mounted a furious comeback but fell just short last night in Scooba vs. East Mississippi. CCC turned a 16-point halftime deficit into a tie game with just mintues remaining before ultimately falling 70-65.
Erica Collins set a new personal and team-high for the 2014-15 season with 27 points, and it was her hot hand the Lady Tigers rode after muddling through a difficult first half. Collins was pushed to the limit— at one point she was visibly ill on the court— but kept pushing to keep CCC in the game, pulling in 15 rebounds to go along with her 27 points.
Her bucket in the paint tied the score at 59 with just under 4 minutes to go. The Lady Lions and Lady Tigers traded blows, and the score remained tied at 65 with only 2:33 to play. EMCC was able to close the game on a 5-0 run though and seal their 10th victory of the year.
Amber Sisk was in double figures for the 3rd consecutive game. The Oxford native poured in 14 and Josta Totten added 9 of her own to aid in the effort.
The loss was the 17th of the year for the Lady Tigers. They will continue seeking both their 1st road win and their 1st MACJC North win this Thursday when Northwest CC comes to town.
Tipoff vs. the Lady Rangers in the Pinnacle is slated for 6 pm.
