Tigers Go To Wire With Reigning MACJC North Champs

Team falls just short at Holmes, Forrest with 15

CLARKSDALE - The Tigers took it to the wire at Holmes Tuesday night, giving the Bulldogs all they could handle before dropping a heartbreaker 64-60. Da'Quan Forrest led the team with 15 points on the strength of 4 3's. The Kosciusko native also added 3 assists.

CCC got off to a good start, building a 22-13 lead behind 10 first half points from Forrest and 6 team 3's in the game's first 20 minutes. They would take a 30-25 advantage into the locker rooms.

Holmes would come out ready for the 2nd though, starting the period on a 13-2 run. The teams battled back and forth the rest of the way, with CCC able to close the gap to 4 with under 90 seconds to go. Forrest would again come up huge, drilling a corner with 62 seconds left that cut the Holmes lead to 1.

CCC would get no closer though, failing to score on two final attempts. The loss dropped the team to 2-9. Holmes, playing without their injured star Darryl Macon, was able to improve to 8-1 and remain undefeated at home for the 2015-16 season.

Dewuan Fowler checked in with 11 points and 4 steals for CCC. Michael Bell added 4 assists. Holmes was led by Demarkis Weatherall, who racked up 14 points. Cedric Harper, Jamahl Jackson, and Lacurtis Allen combined for 35.

The Tigers will play their final game before the holiday break Saturday in The Pinnacle vs. Hinds (4-4).
