The Coahoma CC Tigers started hot but ultimately fell to the Itawamba Indians Thursday evening in The Pinnacle, 67-60. Dewuan Fowler, Jonathan Ankston, and Da'Quan Forrest all finished in double figures for the Tigers.CCC used a hot opening half from Fowler, in which the freshman netted 13 of his 16 total, to open a halftime advantage of 38-31. The team knocked down 15 field goals, including 5 3's, building the 7-point advantage.But the Indians proved to be a durable and resilient oufit late in the second half, turning a 50-49 deficit halfway through the period into its first road win of the season. ICC was led by Howard Thomas, Quenten Taylor, and Martaveous McKnight, who combined for 36 of the squad's total 67. Itawamba improved to 5-4 overall with the victory.
For Ankston, who contributed 10 points and 6 assists, it was the 3rd consecutive game of at least 9 points and 5 dimes. Forrest, who finished with 10 points as well, has been in double figures in 3 of the CCC's last 4 contests.
The Tigers (2-8) returns to action Monday at Holmes. Tip in the men's game is slated for 8 pm.
