Football Tigers Conclude Season At Northwest

Nationally-ranked Rangers notch victory

SENATOBIA - The CCC Football Tigers concluded their 2015 season at Northwest Thursday night. Greg Johnson and Devonta Jones scored TDs for the Tigers, but the evening belonged to the nationally-ranked Rangers, who prevailed 51-14.

Coming off a loss last week to East Mississippi and closing out the season in front of their home fans, the #6 Northwest side came out strong and built a sizeable advantage in the first quarter. Justin Crawford and Max Joseph each posted 2 rushing TDs and KyKy Austin grabbed 2 TD catches.

CCC's scores came on a terrific punt return of 86 yards by Greg Johnson and a beautiful 39-yard TD strike from Rodney English to Devonta Jones, who broke two Northwest tacklers on his way to his 3rd TD of 2015. Jones also added over 150 total yards on 6 returns, and English would finish 5 of 9 for 81 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, CCC forced 2 Northwest turnovers. Nickales Nichols grabbed his first interception of the year, and Denzel Scruggs recovered his first fumble. Team captain Gabriel Baldwin led the way with 9 tackles to finish the year with 65 total, including 38 solo efforts. Tommy Harris added 8 tackles of his own in the effort against a tough Northwest offense.
