Trojans Jump On Tigers, Earn MACJC North Win

CCC men fall in Moorehead

MOORHEAD—The Tigers fell behind early and could not dig themselves out of the hole vs. Mississippi Delta Monday night, falling by a final of 93-67. CCC was led by Willie Bronson and Da'Quan Forrest, who poured in 21 and 17 respectively, but their efforts could not prevent another defeat.

MDCC put on a show early for their home fans, starting the game on a blistering 27-8 run. The Tiger attack did not respond to the initial blows. As a team, CCC had just 1 field goal in the game's first 11.5 minutes and finished the period with a 5 of 28 mark from the field. After leading 2 of their last 3 contests at halftime, CCC headed to the locker rooms in Moorehead trailing 44-20.

The Delta attack was led by Travon Harper. The 6-7 forward was dominant inside, torching the Tigers for 24 points (9-10 FG) and 13 rebounds. Ondarious Hamlin, Zamarlus Griffin, and Tyrone McNeese also finished in double figures for the Trojans. As a team, MDCC shot 66% from the field for the game.

Forrest was once again brilliant from deep for CCC. The freshman knocked down 4 of his 8 3-point attempts on his way to 6th 17+ point game this season. Bronson was particularly good in the second half. The Belzoni native got to the line a season-high 14 times and reached 20 points for the 5th time this year.

The Tigers managed to make it interesting in the second half, using a more efficient shooting attack to pull within 11 with just over 11 minutes remaining. But Delta continued its interior domination, using the devastating attack around the rim to rebuild its lead to over 20 in the game's waning minutes. It was MDCC's 8th win of the year.

With the loss, the Tigers fell to 1-15 overall, 1-10 in the MACJC and 0-6 in divisional play. They take on Itawamba CC at home on Thursday. Tipoff vs. the 5-12 Indians is slated for 8 pm in The Pinnacle.
