Itawamba Indians Fight Off Tigers In Fulton

Itawamba wins despite big game from Tiger guard De'Quan Forrest

FULTON— The Itawamba CC Indians upended CCC in Fulton Thursday night despite a game high 21 points by Tiger guard Da'Quan Forrest. Willie Bronson poured in 11 of his own—all in the second half— but the night ultimately belonged to the Itawamba squad.

The Indians used a quick start to build a lead that ultimately proved to be insurmountable. They started the game on a 15-3 run, and, despite turning the ball over more times than the Tigers in the first half, led 27-21 headed into the locker room.

Forrest was money for the Tigers all night. The freshman from Kosciusko shot 8 of 14 from the field and 5 of 11 from three-point land to lead all scorers. He added two assists and two steals to round out his best night of the season. Forrest has now scored at least 17 points in each of the Tigers' last two games.

Other than Forrest, it was an off night for a Tiger offense that came into the game having been held to under 60 points just one other time this season. Forrest and Bronson were the only two Tigers to finish in double figures.

The Tigers hung around for most of the second half. Demarcus Bracey knocked down a corner three with just over 7 minutes to go to cut the Indian lead to 5, but the home team closed the game out strong, finishing the contest on a 27-16 run to win going away. As a squad, Itawamba shot 62.5% from the field in the second half.

The win moved the Indians back to .500 on the season. The loss was the seventh in a row for the Tigers, who now stand at 1-7 overall, 1-4 in the MACJC, and 0-1 in the MACJC North.

CCC returns home to play host to Holmes CC on Monday, December 8th. Tipoff in that game is slated for 8 pm.
