Little Rock—The CCC Basketball Tigers put up a valiant fight Thursday night in Little Rock vs. Arkansas Baptist. But, despite the solid effort, the men's squad fell by a final of 93-74.
The Tigers were led by CCC Athlete of the Week Willie Bronson and reigning MACJC player of the week Da'Quan Forrest. Bronson poured in 20 points for the second consecutive game and the third time this season, and Forrest added 11 of his own, but their efforts were not enough to keep the Tigers from dropping their second game this season to the Buffaloes and their ninth overall.
The two teams matched each other blow for blow in the first half. Though Arkansas Baptist shot the ball better from the field overall in the period, the Tigers were hot from deep, nailing 7 3-pointers to keep the Buffaloes' lead to just 4 at halftime. Freshman LaTerrence Henderson was particularly effective from deep. Henderson, a native of Friars Point, finished with 3 triples in the game.
The second half began on a positive note for the Tigers, with Bronson putting in a bucket to make it a one-possession game. But from there the Buffs took over, reeling off a 17-4 run that the Tigers would not recover from. Arkansas Baptist was led by DJ Reed, who finished a perfect 10 of 10 from the field en route to 25 points in the contest.
Arkansas Baptist was the better team around the rim, outscoring CCC 42 to 26 in the paint and out rebounding the Tigers 45 to 37. Still, Anthony Dorsey and Demarcus Bracey were the game's individual rebounding leaders. Both CCC sophomores pulled down 8 boards.
The Tigers now go on their winter break before resuming their season January 8th at Hinds. Tipoff in that contest is slated for 7:30 pm.
