Bossier Parish Tames Tigers At Southern

Cavs use three-ball and stifling press to down CCC

SHREVEPORT—The CCC men took the court Friday afternoon in Shreveport hoping to salvage at least one win for Coahoma in Shreveport. Unfortunately, Bossier Parish got in their way. The Cavaliers rode 21-point games by Chantz Chambers, Antwine Baker, and Greg Pollins to a 103-81 win.

CCC played Bossier even in the early going before the Cavaliers went on a 19-3 run that made it 33-16 with 7:50 to go in the first half. The Tigers struggled to dig themselves out of the hole in the first, but made a determined run in the second to pull within 6 with just under 7 minutes to go. The Cavs reeled off another rally though, finishing the game on a 27-11 run to cement the victory.

CCC was paced by Willie Bronson. The Humphreys County High grad finished with a game-high 27 points as well as 9 assists and 3 steals. Melvin Marshall hit a couple of big threes to finsih with 10 points, and Zedric Bass, playing in his first game of the season, added 14 points to go along with 6 assists of his own. Their efforts, however, were not enough to overcome a Bossier team that used a suffocating full-court press to force 26 turnovers. The Cavs also shot 43% from beyond the arc.

The Tigers, already missing Michael West III, spent most of the game without the services of Demarcus Bracey. Bracey, a solid inside presence with a penchant for getting to the rim and blocking shots, left the game only two minutes in after suffering a leg injury.

The Tigers are now 0-4 on the 2014 season. The team will look to get back on track this Tuesday at home when they take on Arkansas Baptist in the Pinnacle. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 pm.
