SHREVEPORT— The CCC men came up short against Southern University-Shreveport Friday night, falling by a final of 78-69. The loss was the third straight for the Tigers, who turned in a solid shooting night despite the loss. CCC shot 52% from the field in the first half and 54% in the second half, but in the end, simply could not convert their shooting success into a victory.
Demarcus Bracey had another big night, netting 14 points to go along with 3 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals. But it was Ladarius Jones who paced the Tigers in scoring. Jones went 6 of 9 from the field and 7 of 8 from the line en route to putting in a team-high 20 points.
Each team turned the ball over 14 times, but Southern managed to outscore CCC 17-8 after those turnovers, a scoring margin that proved to be the difference.
Willie Bronson added 14 points and 6 assists in the Tiger effort, and Anthony Dorsey contributed 10 points. As a team, CCC committed 26 personal fouls, sending the Jaguars to the line 41 times. Southern converted on nearly 70% of their opportunities from the charity stripe to earn the win and improve to 2-1 on the season.
The Tigers are back in action Saturday at 2 pm. They take on Bossier Parish CC in Shreveport.
