CLARKSDALE—The CCC men's basketball team fell to the Hinds CC-Utica Bulldogs 72-67 Thursday night. The Tigers overcame an 8-point halftime deficit to seize the lead early in the second half, but could not quite pull out the victory. The loss drops the CCC men to 0-2 on the season.
The Tigers were led by LaTerrence Henderson, who knocked down 4 3-pointers en route to 15 points, and Demarcus Bracey, who finished the night with 14 points on 5 of 5 shooting from the field.
The Tigers went to the locker room trailing 37-29, but tied the game with 15:38 to go in the second half and took a 1-point edge shortly thereafter. The two teams then matched each other blow-for-blow, trading the lead until the 10:29 mark, when Hinds gained the advantage for good. They held off the CCC comeback effort and used a 30 of 36 performance from the free throw line to ice the win.
The men travel to Shreveport this weekend for the Southern Classic. They take on Southern University-Shreveport Friday at 6 pm and Bossier Parish Community College Saturday at 2 pm. Both games will be streamed live on coahomasports.com.
