Deneshia Faulkner enters her second year as the head coach of Coahoma women's basketball for the 2026-2027 season. She brings a proven track record of culture-shifting leadership and an unwavering commitment to developing young women into champions on and off the court.
 
Current Impact
Faulkner took over the Coahoma program mid-year in the 2025-2026 season with just a few months to prepare. Inheriting a predominantly freshman team with only two returning players, she engineered a remarkable turnaround, leading the Tigers to the second round of the playoffs in her first year. Over her career, she has coached 25 players to collegiate scholarships, including three Power Four athletes and one WNBA signee.
 
Before Coahoma
Before arriving in Clarksdale, she made history as the first African American head coach for women's basketball at Jones College, turning a two-returner roster into a five-win conference team by her second season. At Meridian High School, she secured four district championships and the school's first girls' basketball state title. At her alma mater, Heidelberg High School, Faulkner led the team to four district titles, five state tournament appearances, and an undefeated regular season.
 
Personal
A native of Heidelberg, Mississippi, Faulkner began her coaching journey as a volunteer assistant at Jefferson Davis High School while competing as a student-athlete at Alabama State University.
