Danetra Forrest

Danetra Forrest takes over the Coahoma Community College Women’s basketball for the 2014-15 season. The first-year head coach was a standout athlete for the University of Mississippi from 2004-08, helping the Lady Rebels reach the Elite 8 in the 2006-07 season.

The Louisville High School product was named The Clarion-Ledger’s Player of the Year in high school and was a two-time Dandy Dozen selection. ??

Forrest comes to CCC from Jones County Junior College where she helped lead the 2013-14 Lady Bobcats to a 19-8 overall record and a MACJC championship as an assistant.

The previous two seasons, the JCJC women’s team advanced to the MACJC State Tournament semi-finals. During her three-year stint, the Lady Bobcats had an overall 46-29 record, and Forrest played a large role in the team’s recruiting efforts and strength and conditioning training.

Forrest says her goal is to work hard to bring that level of success with her to Coahoma.

I am very humbled and I really am appreciative of this opportunity I’ve been given to me by the Coahoma Community College,” said Forrest. “It’s an opportunity that I do not take lightly, it affects myself and my family, and the ladies that play basketball at Coahoma and their careers both on and off the court.

“I am excited about become a part of the Lady Tigers basketball team. We are going to operate at a level of excellence in everything that we do — both on the court and in the classroom.”
