CLARKSDALE, Miss. — The Coahoma Community College volleyball team seeks its first victory of the 2026 season as the Lady Tigers travel to face East Central Community College on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
Coahoma (0-2) is looking to bounce back following a 3-0 defeat to Northeast Mississippi Community College on Sept. 2 in its inaugural home opener. Despite the straight-set loss, the Lady Tigers showed defensive intensity, combining for 21 total digs against a physical front line.
Miyah Nickey and Samone Burdine anchored the Coahoma back row, leading the defense with five digs each. Hannah Parker contributed three digs, while offensively, Erin Cook paced the team with two kills.
East Central enters the contest after a narrow 3-2 loss to Meridian on Sept. 2. The Warriors battled through a grueling five-set matchup, falling 28-26, 20-25, 26-24, 20-25, and 15-10.
The Coahoma defense will need to contain a potent East Central attack powered by Ava Smith, who recorded a team-high 18 kills and 13 digs against Meridian.
The Warriors' offense is directed by setter Anna Wojtczak, who distributed 40 assists and added 11 digs in their last outing. Defensively, East Central is anchored by Emily Truan, who collected 22 digs to keep rallies alive.
Tiger Nation is encouraged to make the road trip to support the Lady Tigers as they hunt for a crucial conference win.
