SENATOBIA, Miss. — Coahoma Community College volleyball officially began its inaugural season Wednesday evening, as the Lady Tigers traveled to Senatobia to take on Northwest Mississippi Community College.

The Lady Tigers battled the Rangers in their first regular-season match in program history, gaining valuable experience against a Northwest squad that entered the matchup with a strong start to its 2026 campaign. Northwest ultimately earned the 3-0 victory over Coahoma. However, the result marked another important milestone for the Lady Tigers as they continue to build the foundation of the college's newest athletic program.The match allowed Coahoma to put its preseason preparation into action and experience the intensity and pace of regular-season collegiate volleyball.

Some Highlights from the Match: 
• Hannah Parker, Samone Burdine, and Lamonica Beck scored the first kills of the season, with Parker having 3, Burdine having 1, and Lamonica also having 1.
• The Lady Tigers score 12 points in set 3 with 3 assisted blocks.

Head coach Nadia Crawford and her team will use the experience as another building block as they continue developing chemistry, consistency and confidence on the court.
Wednesday's match marked the official beginning of the historic journey for Coahoma volleyball. After opening the program with an exhibition against Copiah-Lincoln on Aug. 20, the Lady Tigers officially stepped into regular-season competition against Northwest.

Coahoma will now turn its attention to its next week matchups as the Lady Tigers continue their inaugural season on the road against the Itawamba Indians on Monday, August 31, at 6pm and prepare for their first-ever home match against Northeast Mississippi Community College on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 6 p.m. inside Marion Reid Gymnasium.

The Lady Tigers continue to compete and work through the challenges of establishing a first-year program. As Coahoma volleyball continues to write its first chapter, the Lady Tigers will look to build on each experience and continue laying the groundwork for the program's future.
