Volleyball season preview: Beginning of the inaugural campaign

CLARKSDALE, Miss. — Coahoma Community College head volleyball coach Nadia Crawford leads the Lady Tigers into their inaugural 2026 season against Northwest Mississippi Community College on Wednesday, Aug. 26, in Senatobia, Miss.

With the season opener just two weeks away, excitement continues to build around a team eager to establish its identity and embody the program's new motto: "Built to earn everything. One team. One standard. One Coahoma."

"This group has embraced the challenge of building something special from the ground up," Crawford said. "Our players have bought into our culture, worked hard throughout preseason, and are excited to represent Coahoma Community College every time we step onto the court. We know there will be challenges, but we're ready to compete and continue growing together."

Following an exhibition match at Copiah-Lincoln Community College on Thursday, Aug. 20, the Lady Tigers will take the court for the first time in program history against a challenging schedule that features several of the top teams in the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference.

The Lady Tigers will host their first-ever home match inside Marion Reid Gymnasium against Northeast Mississippi Community College on Sept. 2. The home schedule also includes matchups against Meridian Community College (Sept. 14 and Oct. 19), Southwest Mississippi Community College (Sept. 16), Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (Sept. 23), Pearl River Community College (Sept. 30), and East Central Community College (Oct. 12).

Coahoma will travel to face Northwest Mississippi (Aug. 26 and Oct. 21), Itawamba Community College (Aug. 31 and Oct. 14), East Central (Sept. 9), Jones College (Sept. 28), Northeast Mississippi (Oct. 5), and Copiah-Lincoln (Oct. 7).

Several matches stand out on the inaugural schedule, including the program's first home match against Northeast Mississippi, a home showdown with conference contender Mississippi Gulf Coast, and contests against Jones College and Pearl River.

As the program begins its first season, the Lady Tigers will rely on a talented signing class that has spent the offseason building chemistry. The roster features student-athletes from across Mississippi and neighboring states who will serve as the foundation of Coahoma's newest athletic program.

Tiger Nation is encouraged to come out and support the Lady Tigers throughout the inaugural season as Coahoma volleyball begins its journey.
