Scooba, MS  – The Coahoma Lady Tigers continued their impressive season with a commanding 62-46 victory over East Mississippi Community College. With a suffocating defense and balanced scoring attack, Coahoma improved to 19-2 overall and 9-1 in conference play.  

Coahoma set the tone early, battling to a 15-17 first-quarter deficit before regaining control with a strong second quarter. By halftime, the Lady Tigers had taken a 31-30 lead, using a combination of defensive intensity and offensive execution to disrupt East Mississippi's rhythm. While East Mississippi kept things competitive through three quarters, the fourth belonged entirely to Coahoma. The Lady Tigers locked in defensively, holding their opponent scoreless in the final period while closing out the game on an 18-0 run.  

Ceriah Evans led the charge with a dominant performance, posting a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds while controlling the paint on both ends of the floor. Cayla Myers added 13 points, knocking down two three-pointers to stretch the defense. Jamaica Young contributed 10 points and 5 rebounds, providing a steady presence in the backcourt. Kamil Washum orchestrated the offense with 7 points and 4 assists, while Cy'Nara Robinson was active on the glass, pulling down 8 rebounds to go with 4 points.  

The Lady Tigers' defense was the story of the game, forcing 19 turnovers and limiting East Mississippi to just 27% shooting from the field, including a dismal 12% from beyond the arc. Coahoma also won the rebounding battle 36-35 and held a significant edge in assists, finishing with 14 compared to East Mississippi's 8. Despite some struggles at the free-throw line, where they shot 61.5%, the Lady Tigers' defensive pressure and ability to execute in the closing minutes secured the victory.  

With this win, Coahoma now shifts its focus to a crucial home matchup against Holmes Community College on Thursday, February 18, 2025, at 5:30 PM. The Lady Tigers will look to extend their winning streak and continue their push toward postseason success.
