Wesson, MS - The Coahoma Community College Lady Tigers faced off against the Co-Lin Wolves, ending the game with a final score of 77-65 in favor of Co-Lin.
The Lady Tigers, arriving with a two-game winning streak, had a strong start with Janiya Jones hitting a three-pointer, giving them an early 5-2 lead. The first quarter concluded with a tie at 18.
The Tigers took charge in the second quarter, scoring 22 points and heading into halftime with a 40-33 lead. Janiya Jones and Jamaica Young contributed 6 points each in the first quarter, while Janiya led with a total of 11 points at halftime. Kamil Washum also made a significant impact with 9 points.
However, the third quarter proved challenging for the Lady Tigers as the Co-Lin Wolves mounted a strong comeback, scoring 22 points compared to the Lady Tigers' 8. The Lady Wolves secured their largest lead of the night, extending it to 17 points and ultimately claiming the 77-65 victory.
Janiya Jones led all scorers with 18 points, including four three-pointers, while Kamil Washum followed with 15 points on 6-12 shooting. Kamil's three-point percentage of 47% places her as the conference leader and ranks 6th nationally in the NJCAA.
Looking ahead, the Lady Tigers will return home on February 26th to face East Mississippi at 5:30 PM. The game theme is Maroon Out, with the first 100 fans receiving a free T-shirt. The halftime ceremony will honor alums, and Coahoma Athletics, in partnership with Diaper Bank of the Delta, is organizing a diaper drive. Fans who donate diapers will receive free admission and those who donate wipes will receive two dollars off admission.Â
