Senatobia, MS - Coahoma Community College Lady Tigers and Northwest Community College Lady Rangers fought hard in a nail-biter, with the Lady Tigers coming out on top with a 64-61 victory in a MACCC conference basketball game at Howard Coliseum.
The game started with
Cayla Myers notching a bank shot, but the Rangers took an early lead at 9-4. A turnaround came as
Kennedi Wagner's three-pointer and assist put the Lady Tigers in charge at 10-9.
Kamil Washum's and-one play wrapped up the first quarter with the Lady Tigers leading 16-13.
Tereah Hayslett's standout performance in the second quarter fueled the Lady Tigers to a 27-15 lead, leaving the Lady Rangers scoreless in that period. Heading into halftime, the Lady Tigers held a solid 36-25 advantage, thanks to contributions from Hayslett,
Cayla Myers, and Ceriah Evan.
The third quarter saw
Cayla Myers extending her hot streak, building a lead as wide as 17 points. However, the Lady Rangers staged a comeback in the fourth quarter, closing the gap to 63-56 with 1:20 left on the clock. Angela Middleton's three-pointer tightened the score to 63-59, putting the Lady Tigers under pressure.
In the final moments, the Lady Tigers managed to secure the win at 64-61.
Tereah Hayslett's crucial free throw with 5 seconds remaining sealed the deal, ensuring the Lady Tigers escaped with the victory.
Looking ahead, the Lady Tigers will return to the Pinnacle for a matchup against the top-ranked Southwest Lady Bears on February 20th at 5 PM.
