The Coahoma Tigers are headed to the semifinals of the 2023 NJCAA DI Region 23 Men's Basketball Tournament!
In the opening round, Coahoma won 71-69 at Southwest Mississippi. On Wednesday night in the quarterfinals, CCC picked up a 71-67 victory at Itawamba.
Out of the 19 teams in the region, the Tigers are one of the last four contending for the championship. In just the second season under coaches
Dell Cannon and
Jaquay Walls, the Maroon and White have registered a massive statement.
The two postseason wins showcase just how much the program has improved in a short amount of time, and has Tiger Nation excited about the future.
As for the game itself,
Jo Perez led Coahoma in scoring with 17 points.
O'zhell Jackson tallied a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds to go along with five assists, three blocks, and two steals.
Amarion Hoggan also scored in double figures as he recorded 11 points, which included two 3-pointers.
Kei Johnson tallied nine points to go with 10 rebounds, four assists, four blocks, and three steals.
Jaqai Murray and
Ben Galmore combined to score 13 points for the Tigers.
Korea McKay II and
Gregg Magee also scored for Coahoma.
The Tigers are now 15-11 (6-8 MACCC) this season; ICC is 21-5 (11-3 MACCC).
Coahoma will face Meridian Community College in the semifinals.
