Box Score The CCC women's basketball team entered Monday night's matchup with an unblemished 3-0 record in conference home games this season. However, that winning streak was snapped on Monday night against Southwest Mississippi.
Coahoma was outscored 11-7 in the opening quarter. CCC's
Jamyia Bowen led all scorers in the second quarter with seven points. The Lady Tigers trailed 27-22 at halftime.
Jamea Smith was CCC's leading scorer in the third quarter with four points. Coahoma trailed 36-30 going into the final quarter of play.
The Lady Tigers tallied 17 points in the fourth quarter as Bowen,
Janiya Jones, and
Mackenzie Carter each recorded a 3-pointer. SMCC countered with 16 points of its own en route to a 52-47 win over CCC.
Coahoma is now 9-5 (5-2 MACCC) this season; the Southwest Mississippi Lady Bears are 12-8 (3-5 MACCC).
CCC's next game is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 2, at Copiah-Lincoln. That matchup is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.
