CCC defeats Mississippi Gulf Coast 55-47

The CCC women's basketball team defeated Mississippi Gulf Coast on Monday night at the Pinnacle. The Lady Tigers outscored MGCCC in each quarter en route to an eight-point win.

Coahoma freshmen Jamyia Bowen, Jamea Smith, and Janiya Jones tallied 11 of Coahoma's 13 points in the first quarter. The Lady Tigers led 13-11 going into the second quarter.

Mackenzie Carter led CCC with five points in the second quarter, which included a banked-in 3-pointer. Coahoma led 27-24 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Coahoma's Tiara Abron tallied seven of her 12 points on the night. Carter, Jones, Tiana Abron, and Elishia Wilson scored the rest of CCC's points in the quarter. The Maroon and White led 40-35 after three quarters of play.

Bowen and Wilson combined to register 11 points in the fourth quarter as CCC went on to win the game 55-47. With the win; Coahoma is now 3-0 at home in conference play this season.

The Lady Tigers are 8-4 (4-1 MACCC) this season; Mississippi Gulf Coast is 9-4 (4-2 MACCC).

Coahoma's next game is scheduled for Thursday night at Northwest Mississippi. That matchup is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.
