Box Score The CCC women's basketball team played its first game of the 2022-23 regular season on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022. The matchup was against Southern University-Shreveport at Baton Rouge Community College.
Janiya Jones and Elishia Wilson each tallied five points in the first quarter, but Coahoma trailed 18-12 after the opening 10 minutes of the game. CCC trimmed Shreveport's lead in the second quarter, but Coahoma trailed 29-24 at halftime.
Jones, Wilson, Tiana Abron, Tiara Abron, Jamea Smith, Marshayla Purnell, Jamyia Bowen, and Sequoia Bouldin each scored for the Lady Tigers in the third quarter.
Coahoma tallied 22 points in the third quarter, while allowing just eight. Entering the fourth quarter; CCC led 46-37.
The Lady Tigers extended their lead in the fourth quarter as they outscored Shreveport 27-18. Bouldin, Jones, Wilson, and Tiara Abron each scored at least six points in the final quarter.
Coahoma won 73-55, and the Lady Tigers are now 1-0 (0-0 MACCC) on the season.
CCC's next game will be on Friday, Nov. 4, against Tyler Junior College at 11:00 a.m. That matchup will also be played at BRCC.
