CLARKSDALE- Coahoma Head Coach Micheal Stringer visualized getting back on the winning track. He noticed that the Tigers needed to improve on offense. Coahoma used an interesting strategy against Southern Arkansas University Tech. To heighten the chance of his players leaving the court in high spirits, Coach Stringer decided to enter his best offensive players in the game. The Tigers made huge plays that led to outscoring Southern Arkansas Tech 52-38 in the second half for an ultimate 89-79 victory at the Pinnacle.
Southern Arkansas Tech (12-8) had five players to score in double figures. Sheldon Stevens came out on top with 16 points, three rebounds and two assists. Malik Miller scored 16 points, two assists and two steals. Jaland Mitchell contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds. Mike Boatright pitched in 13 points, four rebounds and four assists. Will Bynum pitched in 12 points and two steals.
Six of the Mighty Tigers played dynamically, scoring in double figures. Dequan Morris led the Tigers with 21 points, six rebounds and two assists. Kendall Richardson led the Mighty Tigers with 17 points and five rebounds. Tiras Bolden finished up with 16 points, nine rebounds and two assists. Cornelius Holly scored 12 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals. Robert Boyd contributed 12 points, five rebounds, three steals, two assists and two blocks. Terry Williams scored 11 points.
Coahoma goes to (6-10) on the season. The Tigers will be on the road for games over the next two weeks. They will continue in the MACJC North Division race against crosstown rival Mississippi Delta on Monday, Jan. 28, 2019. The tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. in Moorhead, Mississippi.
