CLARKSDALE — CCC Basketball wrapped its 2017 season last Thursday at home vs. Mississippi Delta. The Lady Tigers fell to the Lady Trojans 74-57 while the Tigers dropped a thrilling finale 88-84 to the Delta men.
The Lady Tigers were led by Kayla Rogers, who scored 20 points while grabbing 6 boards and 4 steals. Carnita Hammond added 12 points and 4 blocks, and Melvinisha Jenkins scored 10 while pulling down 8 rebounds, but a shorthanded Lady Tiger squad were downed by the Lady Trojans 74-57. Delta was led by O'Nesha Hunt, who scored 14 points to help the Lady Trojans finish 2-10 in divisional play and 3-18 overall. The loss dropped CCC to 1-11 in the MACJC North and 2-20 overall.
Tarquise Harris enjoyed his best game of the season for the Tigers, dropping 33 points in 33 minutes on 12 of 21 shooting. The freshman also added 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Frank Anthony and Malik Bailey each chipped in 18 points, but the Tigers fell just short vs. the Trojans. After cutting the lead down to just 1 with less than a minute to go, the team could not complete the comeback, dropping the conclusion to the 2017 season 88-84. Mississippi Delta was led by Jabarie Escoffery, who dropped 27 points to help the Trojans finish 6-6 in divisional play and 11-12 overall. The loss dropped Coahoma to 1-11 in MACJC North play and 3-21 overall.
