CLARKSDALE — Tiger Basketball earned a divisional win Thursday evening in The Pinnacle vs. East Mississippi, upending the Lions 64-60 to move into a tie for 2nd in the MACJC North. Cortavious Miller and Tarquise Harris each scored 16 points, and Malik Bailey added 14 of his own in the win.
CCC overcame a slow start to tie the contest at 30 at half. Miller and Harris each scored 11 of their 16 in the game's first 20 minutes. The teams remained close in the 2nd, with a clutch 3 by Malik Woods, a contested layup in the low post by Miller, and free throws by Bailey helping CCC earn the win in the game's final 90 seconds.
The strong performances by Miller and Harris followed solid games Monday at Copiah-Lincoln, where Miller recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds and Harris posted 14 points. 11 of Malik Bailey's season-high 14 points came in the game's second half. It was the 5th time the freshman guard/forward has scored in double figures this year.
CCC outshot EMCC 43% to 33% from the field and forced 20 Lion turnovers while racking up 10 team steals. Justin Edmond recorded 9 rebounds to accompany 3 steals and 2 blocks in 26 minutes of work.
The loss dropped East Mississippi to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in MACJC North play. The win was the 3rd of the season overall for the Tigers and their 1st in divisional play.

CCC Basketball will celebrate its homecoming Saturday, January 21st with a full schedule of festivities and fun. The teams will take on Southern University - Shreveport at 1 pm and 3 pm, and the day will also feature the induction of the Coahoma Community College Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2017.
