CLARKSDALE - The CCC Tiger basketball team concluded its preseason Saturday night with a warmup match against Tennessee Prep Academy of Memphis. The hard-fought contest ended with a 92-86 Tennessee victory, but, more importantly, gave each team a chance to prepare for what promises to be a fruitful regular season.
The Tigers were once again paced by Dewuan Fowler, who dropped 20 points on 7 of 10 shooting in under 20 minutes on the floor. Dontavius Self chipped in 19 to go along with 8 boards to help the Tigers overcome a 7-point halftime deficit and briefly take the lead in the game's final 10 minutes.
As a team, CCC enjoyed another solid shooting night, finishing with a 54.5% mark from the field. TN Prep shot it at an impressive clip as well, canning 33 of their 53 field goal attempts. The Diplomat Lions were led by Tahj Eaddy, who dropped 23 points.
Tennessee Preparatory Academy is a program in its first year. Started by head coach Harold Rayford, it gives student-athletes the chance to continue to develop on the floor and in the classroom before heading to college. The roster for the Diplomat Lions included multiple international players and a half dozen players from New York state.
CCC opens its regular season Monday, November 2 on the road at East Central. The Lady Tigers will tip at 5:30 and the men will tip at 7:30. Live streams for both games will be available on coahomasports.com.
